Response to College
Inc., NBC News, and John Oliver
In viewing
the video clips and documentary, I feel like there were some interesting points
made. I have never been presented this particular topic before, but being a
college student now and seeing it for the first time is extremely eye opening. I know that I will leave college with some
debt naturally; yet seeing what non-profit colleges are leaving students with
is absolutely astonishing. Non-profit students leave with at least double the
debt that public students have. Organizations like DeVry, Chapman, and
University of Phoenix, spend more money on advertisements than they do on
teaching the students. Admissions persons are told to “Dial, Dial, Dial”, “prey
on the lower classes and find their pains”, sickening thoughts. Non-profit
colleges prey on those who barely make it by, take all their money and leave
them with astounding debts that will take the rest of their life to pay off.
This clip raised some serious issues and presents a wide variety of
information. It definitely will be further looked into due to the seriousness
of it all.
